My love of art started at school but I was always told I should focus on my academic studies. Spare time throughout my working life was taken up by outdoor activities, cycling and running, so art took a back seat. Work took me all over the world and whilst for a couple of years I did some evening art classes I seemed to miss so many as I was away working.
A stroke in 2022 and I found myself having to relearn how to write. Colouring in books were my staple for a while before I started sketching and doing some “real” art with an ever improving right hand. Retirement gave me the opportunity to join the Silverdale Art and to benefit from all the advice and encouragement of such a talented group.
I have lived in Warton for over 30 years and can be found roaming around the surrounding area, frequently on my bicycle enjoying the landscape and finding moments when I can stop and sketch. I have always loved the watercolour medium but find myself wanting to incorporate every bit of detail. As a result I have really enjoyed using pen and ink combined with watercolour. More recently I was introduced to acrylic inks and am having fun with the looser style that they can create.
